Affordable housing is a critical part of the built environment,constituting the majority of building types, and as such has a major role to play in establishing a sustainable future for this country. There is a notion that the disenfranchised community ‘does not want to stand out from the neighbors,’ and prefer to ‘blend into the community.’ This struggle for inclusiveness is at times at odds with innovation, it is a settlement for what is known, unsustainable practices and all. Prototype House 01 has distinct “ends” that address the community through a recognizable façades and carport. The project is a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and ReStore Habitat.
